| Though human rights related matters were well attended by Sri Lanka Police for the last 2 decades, the Police Human Rights Division was officially accepted as a fully pledged Division in Sri Lanka Police recently. Aftermath the instigation of the high powered ‘Inter Ministerial Human Rights Working Group' by Sri Lankan government to ensure the prompt attendance to increasing human rights matters, the Sri Lanka Police Human Rights Division was officially got underway. |

Prompt attendance to the Human Rights related matters referred to the Division by the Inter Ministerial Human Rights Working Group through the Inspector General of Police. |

Maintaining records of local human rights violations. |

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) explicitly demonstrated the highest acceptance of this Division placing it under his direct supervision, understating the importance of this division. The suggested structural adjustment of the Sri Lanka Police Human Rights Division to realize the objectivities are being made, including a separate comprehensive and exclusive website on which the international community is facilitated to contact the officers of the Division directly. |
