RECRUITMENTS

The Police recruitment Division functions to cater the department in providing with the required human resources. It ensure the quality of the personnel absorbed in to the Department is suitable in every respect to be a Police Officer in the Sri-Lanka Police.

To achieve this task in different ranks, the required physical, educational, medical and personnel backgrounds are checked to fulfill the expected standards of the department.

Direct recruitments are made in the following ranks to the department;

1.      Probationary Assistant Superintendent of Police

2.      Probationary Sub-Inspector of Police

3.      Police constable

4.     Police women constable

5.      Police constable drivers

Every Police Officer has the privilege and opportunity to earn  a promotion to  a higher rank in the Department, depending on their merits and achievements in various fields.

Also there are opportunities to enhance the educational standard and getting scholarships abroad for training and local training courses in various fields.

The Police officers are trained in various fields apart from their basic Police training. The fields are Crime investigation, Motor traffic, Fingerprint, Mounted Police, Narcotics, VIP security, Communication, Transport (mechanical), Information Technology, Multi-media, Police Band (musical), Special Task Force. Para Military, Medical Services, Marine Services, Life Saving Unit, Police Kennels Division, Legal Division etc.

A Government Gazette Notification is published when vacancies occurs.
