For the post of a Sub Inspector, the applicant should be a citizen of Sri Lanka and posses the following qualifications. |

01. |
Age Limit |
Applicants should be between 18 and 25 years of age on the closing date of application. |
|
|
NOTE :- Officers who are serving as regulars and Reservists who posses the necessary qualifications and satisfy all the other requirements may also apply. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
02.
|
Educational Qualifications
|
The General Certificate of Educational (Ordinary Level) Examination in six subjects at one an the same sitting including the medium Language and Mathematics with four credit passes obtained in Mathematics, Medium Language and two other subjects and the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) Examination in 3 subjects in one and same sitting. |
|
|
NOTE :- In calculating the numbers of subjects at G.C.E.(O/L) both the passes in Science subjects number 41 and 44 will be treated as one subject numbers 42 and 45 will be treated as one subject. They cannot be conceded has four separate subject in taking the number of subjects passed in to account. |

|

Physical |
Height - 05 feet 06 inches (minimum) Chest 32 inches (normal deflated). |
|
|
NOTE :- The Inspector General of Police will reserve the right to enlist applicants who are slightly below the basic physical requirements, provided they are outstanding sportsman who have represented the Country in any from of sport in or out of Sri Lanka, or have performed creditably will in an all Sri Lanka meet or competition and satisfy the other requirements. |

Visual Requirement |
Vision should not be less than 6/12 with each eye. If Vision is 6/6 with one eye, vision of 6/18 with the other eye will be accepted. Colour vision should be normal. Any candidate who requires the use of glasses/spectacles or contact lenses will be disqualified. |

| 05. |
|
1. Applicant should be unmarried (Divorced persons are not eligible). This does not apply to Police Officers who are in the Sri Lanka Police (Regular/Reserve.) |
|
|
2. Preference will be given to those with sports and/or special aptitudes provided they are within the required age limit and posses the required basic educational and physical requirements stipulated above. |
|
|
3. Applicants must qualify in an endurance test and a written exam, which will be held by the Police Department prior to their appearance before the final selection board. |

4. Selected candidates will be required to pass a medical examination prior to enlistment. Those who are found medically unfit for service in the Police will be rejected. |
