Is to provide Welfare and Support for members, enabling them to deliver Efficient and effective service to the Community we serve.
History
According to cabinet decision Welfare unit was established on 23rd June, 1948 by then government to see the Welfare activities of employees in Police department under the supervision of ASP and a clerk
Chief responsibility of this unit was to provide refreshment to Police Officers who were detailed for special' duty to Anuradhapura Poson, Dalada and Kataragama festival through mobile canteen. Due to increase of population, National distress, accident, crimes etc, Police Officers had to detail   for various duties
Due to increase of terrorism and work load, Police Department was compelled to look after the Welfare activities of Police Officers, who were killed, disabled and injured
Day to day, strength of Welfare unit was increased   in order to see the Welfare activities of Police Officers.
As a result, two ASPP are presently detailed, apart from Director / Welfare to see the Welfare facilities and other needs of Police Officers in the Police force.
Services of Police Welfare Division to Police Personnel and Dependant

It is the duty of Police Welfare Division to see the Welfare facilities of devoted and sacrificed Police personnel for the purpose of unity and integrity of Sri Lanka. This is most relevant to injured or dependants of death Police Officers whilst on duty.
