Opening of the Police public assistance centre

On 10th of November 2009 a Police Public Assistance Center was opened at the Police Headquarters based on the new concept of the Inspector General of Police Mr. Mahinda Balasuriya.

IG Police pointed out that, the preliminary aim of establishing this is to develop the connection between the public and the Police. IG Police noted that opportunity is available to anyone to present their grievances 24 hrs of the day and that his Personal assistant would be available for the people so that IG Police and his assistant would contact relevant Police stations, DIGs SPs or ASPs about the actions to be taken to solve the issues.

Director General of the Media Centre for National Security Mr.Lakshman Hulugalle, ITN Chairman Mr. Anura Siriwardena and Rupavahini Corporation Chairman Prof. Ariyaratne Ethugala and other senior Police officers were also present.

The Director of the Police Public Assistance Center is Mr. U.K Dissnayaka –Senior Superintendent of Police.
