On 03.07.2012 Special Task Force (STF) personnel attached to the Buttala STF camp detected a large scale ganja plantation in Thanamalwila police area at Arabegama Unakanda , recently. The STF  had seized 4600 ganja plants planted on an area of 1/2 acres in extent .Four plants from the plantation  was produced at the Thanamalwila  Police station for further investigations while the rest were destroyed.
