To awaken the true spirit of the New Year joy, a ceremony, organized by the Police Headquarters staff was held at the Police grounds at Bambalapitiya on 8th April 2012 under the patronage of Inspector General of Police Mr. N.K. Illangakoon. The event was carried out as the main event parallel to the series of events to be carried out by the Police personnel throughout the island to mark the New Year season. IG Police visited the "Avurudu Gammanaya" where Traditional Customs were observed as the inaugural step. Many activities were organized throughout the day where IG Police shared blissful moments with the participants.

SDIG Administration Mr. Gamini Navaratne along with many other senior Police officers and Civil Staff crew were also present for the event.
