Concurrent with the Wesak Festival, a wheel chair, 09 underarm crutches and 34 forearm crutches worth Rs. 221,000.00 were given away to officers, who had become disabled while they were on duty, under the auspices of the Inspector General of Police Mr. N. K. Illangakoon at 10.15 a.m. on 23rd May, 2013. The event had been organized by the Police Buddhist and Religious Affairs Association.
As per the guidance of Ven. Elle Gunawansa Thero, a program of pasting stickers which illustrate the Buddhist Flag and Dhamma Message on 500 three-wheelers was held at 8.00 a.m. on 23rd May, 2013 before the Dharmayathanaya at 381, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 07 with the intention of celebrating the upcoming Vesak festival.
