A 28 year old suspect has been arrested by the OIC Crime Investigation Unit of Maradana Police, IP Gamini Hewawitharana with other officials, along with Batteries, Mobile Phones and other valuables stolen from the stationary Lorries at Maradana, Maligawatta and Slave Island during nights.
24 Nos. Batteries, 16 Nos. Mobile Phones and 02 Nos. Gas Cylinders stolen from those Lorries and sold by the suspect had been found. |

After arresting two suspects in connection with rustling cattle, Wellawa Police were able to reveal details of rustling cattle which has been taking place in a large scale island wide using luxury vans.
While carrying out investigation by Giriulla Police with regard to stealing 03 Oxen belonged to a disable person at Ranawaka – Wellawa, it has been revealed that the suspect had contacts with luxury van which had been used to transport cattle.

A 50 year old suspect along with 8 Kgs of Cannabis ready to be sold has been arrested by OIC Vice Squad of Mirihana Police SI Mr.Asanka Liyandeniya and other officers and remanded after producing before courts.
On an information received by the police, this suspect who is residing at Wellampitiya has been arrested while taking 1 Kg of Cannabis is to be sold. While doing further investigations the rest 7 Kgs of cannabis has been found, which was hidden in his house.
It has been revealed that this stock of cannabis had been transported under the pretext of transporting fruits by the suspect from Embilipitiya and Thanamalwila. |

A business tycoon and a driver of Southern Provincial Council along with 4 firearms with their ammunitions which had been used for a number of crimes at Karandeniya and its outskirts were arrested for interrogation on suspicion by Karandeniya police yesterday (13th). There were 01 No. of T56 firearm, 01 No. of revolver, 02 Nos. of 16 bore guns and 19 ammunitions which are used for the T56 and 01 No. of revolver ammunition were also among those arms.

By an information, a 52 year-old resident of Atala, Kegalle was arrested by a team of STF officers attached to STF Intelligence Unit – Colombo at 2000 hours on 12th February, 2013 at Kandy-Colombo Road near Uthuwan Kanda while travelling with a Motor Bike in Mawanella Police area with the possession of 01 No. of 12 bore gun, 03 Nos. of Sri Lankan made 9mm guns, 06 ammos of 9mm, 03 Nos. of electronic detonators and 250 grams of explosives. Further investigation is being carried out in this regard by Mawanella Police.
