A suspect has been arrested in connection with fraud over 40 Million Rupees

You may have seen attractive advertisements such as “Attractive interest on deposits” circulating on social media from time to time under the names of various individuals and institutions.

Despite the constant reminders made by the Police and other government institutions to the Public pointing out the insecurity of such financial transactions with any party which has not been registered under the regulation of the Central Bank, another group of people who lost approximately 4.5 Million Rupees through such deposits, had filed complaints recently to Police Stations island wide.

Having identified a woman involved in the fraud, facts have been reported to the Court by Police Station, Hatton. Accordingly, Magistrate’s Court Hatton issued a warrant to arrest of the suspect in connection with the incident.

Based on the facts revealed during the investigation, the Police Officers took measures to arrest her near the Railway Station Hatton on 09.03.2025.

The suspect is a 31-year-old women, residing at Kandegedara, Badulla.
