24 kilograms of Kerala cannabis seized

Based on a tip-off, officers of the Organized Crime Control Unit 1 of the Police Special Task Force arrested a resident of Chilaw on 25.06.2025 from the same area, while having 03 kilograms and 151 grams of Kerala cannabis in his possession.

Based on a piece of information uncovered upon further investigation, the officers arrested a 49-year-old person, who was in possession of 21 kilograms and 470 grams of Kerala cannabis inside a car near a petrol station in Chilaw on the evening of 26.06.2025.

The suspect is a resident of Vinayagapuram.
