Having appointed as the Director and Media Spokesperson of the Police Media Division on 2024.12.02, Senior Superintendent of Police, Mr. Buddhika Manatunga, (LLB) officially assumed duties in his post at the Police Media Division, located at 14th Floor, Suhurupaya, Battaramulla on the morning of 16th December 2024.  Being an alumnus of Ananda College, Colombo, he is a Bachelor of Science degree holder from the University of Peradeniya, a Postgraduate in Science, and a Bachelor of Law degree holder from the Open University. He joined the Sri Lanka Police service as an Assistant Superintendent of Police on 01.01.2014 and was promoted to the post of Superintendent of Police on 01.01.2020, and to the post of Senior Superintendent of Police on 01.01.2024. He has followed many training courses relevant to police service locally as well as in foreign countries such as, Russia, Thailand, the Philippines and Cambodia. The Police Savings Association, which was formed 100 years ago to provide economic relief to the police officers, was established with the objective of improving the financial stability of police officers by saving money until their retirement. In the year 1924, the Superintendent of Police at the time, Mr. J. D. Aitkin, has formed the Police Savings Association to ensure legality in terms of financial matters. The Police Savings Association has been able to solve all the financial problems of police officers throughout the journey upon the celebration of its centenary. This anniversary celebration was held today, 12.12.2024, at the auditorium of the Police Savings Association with the participation of the Hon. Inspector General of Police – Mr. Priyantha Weerasooriya and a number of senior officials with the blessings of all religious leaders.
