On 2025.06.16 Officer on a motorcycle patrol chased the car, stopped it at Reclamation Road, Pettah, and inspected the vehicle. At that time, the driver of the car had ran off from the vehicle and police had taken 4 kg and 112 g of ice stored in 4 plastic boxes inside the car in to custody.Police is conducting further investigations.

The Venerable Sangha, and the Hon.e Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, the Hon. Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Ananda Wijeyapala and the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Priyantha Weerasuriya (Attorney-at-Law) and other senior officers had participated in the event. On the face of the great and excellent contributions of singing, playing and performing of Sri Lanka Police Cultural Division and the Western Band provided, under the direct supervision and guidance of the Acting Inspector General of Police, renowned and popular artists and police officers who have the capability of singing had performed and entertained the gathering with their singing. Many parties, including Police Media Division, Police Information Technology Division, Police Criminal Records Division, and Communications Division have collaborated for the success of the ceremony. The officers of the Colombo Central Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have arrested an individual in possession of 222g and 330 mg of ice near the B.C.C. Bridge in Maradana on the night of 22.04.2025 and have produced him to the Maradana Police Station. The respective suspect was arrested based on information disclosed by another suspect who was under interrogation and detained at this bureau under a detention order. According to the information uncovered by the respective suspect, two additional individuals were arrested in possession of 109 g and 240 mg of ice as well as 44g and 870 mg of ice, respectively, in the Kotahena Police area and have been brought to the Maradana Police Station. Further investigations have been carried out by the Colombo Central Division Criminal Investigation Bureau regarding these three suspects who are between the ages of 25 and 30.
The ceremony, which honored police officers who demonstrated exceptional skills in solving crimes while on duty in the Colombo and made commendable contributions to police duties, was presided over by the Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province, Mr. Sanjeewa Dharmaratne with the participation of the DIG in charge of the Colombo District, Mr. Ujith Liyanage. The event was held on the morning of 11th April 2025 at the auditorium of the Colombo DIG’s office. An amount of Rs. 19,500,000/= has been allocated from the IGP’s Reward Fund for officers attached to 27 police stations in the Colombo North, Colombo Central and Colombo South divisions, and 74 officers were symbolically presented with prize money on 11.04.2025. Inspector grade officers, Police Sergeants, Women Police Sergeants, Police Constables, Women Police Constables, Police Sergeant Drivers and Police Constable Drivers were eligible for this reward. Colombo Central Division Senior Superintendent of Police Sugath Galagamage, Colombo North Division Senior Superintendent of Police Buddhika Samarapala, Colombo South Division Senior Superintendent of Police Lucian Suriya Bandara and many other police officers participated in this event.
Official Visit of Hon. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi 04.04.2025 , 05.04.2025 The Colombo-Katunayake Expressway and Baseline Road are scheduled to be closed on several occasions from 06.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. on 04.04.2025. During that period, drivers arriving towards the Katunayake International Airport using the Expressway and drivers using the Baseline Road are informed to plan their travel taking the road closures into consideration. Furthermore, the roads in the areas of Galle Face, Independence Square, and Battaramulla ‘Apegama’ precincts are also scheduled to be closed on several occasions on 05.04.2025. During this period, traffic officers have been instructed to direct drivers to alternative routes to minimize traffic congestion and inconvenience caused to drivers. The general public are kindly requested to extend the support necessary for this special traffic plan being implemented by the Sri Lanka Police with regard to Hon. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi’s visit to Sri Lanka.
