A Blood Donation Camp in Pothuhera Police Station

It is a well-known fact that blood transfusions are frequently necessary for patients hospitalized with grave injuries caused by fatal accidents, for various major surgeries, and for mothers experiencing complications during childbirth.

The police, who happen to perform their duties in close connection with the hospital, are well aware of the value of having adequate reserve blood supply in the hospital, and therefore are motivated to regularly organize blood donation camps.

Another blood donation camp organized by the Pothuhera Police in conjunction with the 159th Police Anniversary Day on 03.09.2025 was successfully held on 09.09.2025 all day long at the police station premises.

The Public Security Committee of the area and the Blood Bank of the Kurunegala General Hospital have made their fullest contribution to this program, and out of the 178 people who joined to donate blood, 128 people were able to donate blood.

Sri Lanka Police would like to express sincere gratitude towards the people who participated in this event to save a life by donating a drop of blood, as well as everyone who supported the program.
