Being dedicated towards bringing about sustainable development in the country through a talented young generation capable of facing future challenges, having molded thousands of students in Sri Lankan schools into disciplined individuals with positive attitudes, dynamic personalities, and effective leadership qualities.

History

 

After becoming Sri Lanka a Republic in 1972 and upon the instructions of the then Prime Minister and under the special initiative of Mr. Stanley Senanayake, who held the position of Inspector General of Police at that time, the Sri Lanka Police Cadet Service was established on 4th July 1972 at Special Police Reserve Headquarters at London Place, Colombo, with the intention of creating well-disciplined, upright, and healthy younger generation and thereby building a close relationship between the police and the public, having followed the Police Cadet Service in Malaysia and in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.

A Summary of the Duties performed by the Police Mounted Division
  • Through R. T. M. 214 dated 7th September, 2010 issued by Dr. Mahinda Balasooriya, the then Inspector General of Police, as per the order given by the then President, orders have been issued to all officers in charge of provinces and divisions to initiate all police cadet activities focusing on 18 NCC Platoons, which were established in different areas of the island.
  • Initiating trainings by police officers who were appointed to train the cadet corps of National Cadet Corps Platoons and Police divisional levels, under the direct supervision of the officers in charge of following divisions.
