Over 700 kilograms of narcotic ice along with 6 firearms taken into custody

According to a complaint lodged by the relatives of a person, who was admitted to Tangalle Hospital in the early hours of 22.09.2025 due to a sudden illness and died at the said hospital, officers of the Tangalle Police Station searched a house in the Seenimodara area where the deceased had last stayed.

Officers found two more dead bodies in the house, and they were identified as individuals who had come for renovation of the house. Subsequently, through a further search, 326 kilograms and 190 grams of narcotic ice, and 168 kilograms and 694 grams of heroin were found in two lorries parked near the house premises.

After searching a land in the Sathiragama, Ginigal Pokuna area of Tangalle after the investigations revealed facts of another suspicious lorry believed to have left the said house, the officers have arrested one suspect along with 94 kilograms and 570 grams of narcotic ice, 115 kilograms and 720 grams of heroin, a T-56 firearm, and five revolvers in a lorry parked in the said land loaded with watermelon.

Accordingly, it was revealed that the total quantity of narcotic ice is approximately 420 kilograms and 76 grams, and the quantity of heroin is 284 kilograms and 414 grams, which have been seized from the 03 Lorries.

Post-mortem examinations are to be conducted on the corpses. It will reveal whether the three deaths were caused by poisoning or whether it was a triple homicide.
