A couple arrested with 4 T-56 firearms and 27 bullets

Conducting another successful raid, officers of the Police Special Task Force, Matara Camp, on the evening of 24.09.2025, recovered 04 T-56 firearms, 27 T-56 live ammunition, 01 T-56 magazine, 02 grams and 850 milligrams of heroin and Rs. 830,000 worth of cash suspected to have been earned from heroin trafficking, and arrested the suspect and his 37-year-old wife residing in the house.

Based on the information revealed during the interrogation of the 38-year-old suspect, measures have been taken to arrest the 38-year-old female suspect for conspiracy to commit a crime, and further investigations are underway by the Weligama Police Station regarding them and the firearms.
