Two suspects arrested in connection with a video circulating on social media

Two suspects have been arrested by the officers of Wattala Police Station at night on 02.11.2025 for allegedly engaging in disorderly conduct by verbally abusing and threatening a female Buddhist monk near the Ratnaavali Bhikshuni Aramaya in the Kerawalapitiya area, Wattala.

A video of the incident, showing the suspects verbally abusing and threatening the female Buddhist monk, is widely circulating on social media, and having been informed by the Wattala Police Station, the police officers who were on night patrol have arrested the two suspects for allegedly engaging in disorderly conduct in a public place.

The suspects are 58 and 67 years old and are residents of the Wattala area.

They are expected to be produced before the Welisara Magistrate’s Court on 03.11.2025.
