Closing Ceremony of 2025 Inter-Divisional Volleyball Tournament Held Under Patronage of IGP

The closing ceremony of the 2025 Inter-Divisional Volleyball Tournament, which was held over three days commencing on 05 November 2025 at the Police Field Force Headquarters Grounds, was ceremonially concluded on the evening of 07 November 2025 under the patronage of the Inspector General of Police, Attorney-at-Law Mr. Priyantha Weerasooriya.

Spectators were treated to the men’s final between the Police Special Task Force and the Police Field Force Headquarters teams, and the women’s final between the Police Field Force Headquarters and Anuradhapura Police Division teams.

In the men’s category, the Special Task Force emerged champions with a close 3–2 victory over the Police Field Force Headquarters. In the women’s final, the Police Field Force Headquarters team secured a decisive 3–0 win against the Anuradhapura Police Division.

The ceremony concluded successfully, and the President of the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation and President of the Police Volleyball Association, Senior DIG (Training & Advanced Training) Mr. Sajeewa Medawatte, awarded trophies and certificates to the champions and congratulated the winning teams. Former Sri Lankan cricket captain Mr. Angelo Mathews and Sri Lanka’s No. 1 golfer Mr. Jason Liyanage were present as special guests.

The Nuwara Division was awarded the trophy for the Best Out-of-Province Men’s Team, while the Matara Division received the trophy for the Best Out-of-Province Women’s Team.

The Best Player (Men’s) was awarded to 79686 Mr. Terence of the Police Field Force Headquarters, and the Best Player (Women’s) was won by Sergeant 6105 Mr. P.A.V. Chamarika, also of the Police Field Force Headquarters. Medals and certificates were also presented to the best attacker, best blocker, best server and best fielder in both the men’s and women’s categories.

Senior DIG Mr. Sajeewa Medawatte (President, Sri Lanka Volleyball Association), DIG Mr. D.G. Samantha de Silva (Commanding Officer – Police Special Task Force), Senior DIG Mr. Dinesh Karunanayake (Commanding Officer – Police Field Force Headquarters), SSP Mr. Prashantha de Silva (Director – Police Sports Division), SSP Mr. Y.D.S. Pinnaduwa (Secretary – Police Volleyball Association), Chief Inspector Mr. Wijemanne and other senior officers attended the ceremony.
