Massive Ice Drug Bust at Kirinda Beach: 07 Suspects Arrested with 329kg Stock Worth Rs. 394 Million

Under the direct supervision of the Inspector General of Police, a team of officers from the Western Province North Crime Division, acting on the direction of the Senior Deputy Inspector General in charge of the Southern Province, conducted a raid on Kirinda Beach in the Kirinda Police Division on November 12, 2025.

The raid, carried out following a tip-off, led to the arrest of seven suspects and the seizure of 329 kilograms of “ice” (crystal methamphetamine) found aboard a boat.

Subsequent investigations resulted in the seizure of six vehicles believed to have been used in the drug trafficking operation. The vehicles have been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for further investigation.

Police estimate the street value of the seized drugs to be approximately Rs. 394 million. The suspects, who are residents of the Colombo area and the Southern Province, are to be produced before the Tissamaharama Magistrate’s Court to obtain detention orders.

The Police Narcotics Bureau continues to conduct further investigations into the case.
