Senior DIG Sanjeewa Dharmaratne has assumed duties as the Senior DIG in charge of the Adminstration.

According to transfer orders issued by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), and subject to the approval of the National Police Commission, Senior DIG Dharmaratne took over duties as the Administrative Officer of the Sri Lanka Police at Police Headquarters on 18 November 2025.

The Senior DIG (Administration) is the officer automatically appointed to perform the duties of Acting IGP when the IGP is on leave or overseas. The position holds responsibility second only to the IGP and oversees all administrative affairs of the Sri Lanka Police.

Senior DIG Dharmaratne joined the Sri Lanka Police in 1999 as an Assistant Superintendent of Police after completing his training at the Kalutara Police Training College. He holds a degree in BSc in Physics from the University of Colombo and is widely regarded as a disciplined and distinguished officer with extensive experience serving across the island as both a Divisional Officer and Senior DIG.
