The majority of homes in the North Central region, where farming families had stored bundles of rice harvested with hope and hard work, have been severely damaged by floodwaters resulting from the prevailing bad weather conditions.
While the amount of aid required to ease the suffering of the affected communities is immeasurable, senior police officers in the North Central region have stepped forward to support the relief efforts. Using police trucks, they are currently distributing essential supplies including dry rations generously donated by the people of the South to help alleviate hunger and hardship.
At a time when even a bottle of clean drinking water has become a priceless necessity, the Sri Lanka Police extends a heartfelt salute to our own citizens who continue to donate and support relief efforts during this challenging period.
