Across the world, law enforcement communities unite in remembrance of police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, as INTERPOL observes the 7th of March as the International Day of Remembrance for Fallen Police Officers.
In conjunction with this global commemoration, the Sri Lanka Police Headquarters will be illuminated in blue as a symbol of unity, respect, and remembrance. This tribute forms part of a worldwide observance that moves across nations through successive time zones.
Police officers serve with dedication to protect communities and uphold the rule of law, often confronting significant dangers while carrying out their responsibilities. Every year, thousands of law enforcement officers around the world lose their lives in the course of their duties, highlighting the risks and sacrifices associated with policing.
On this solemn occasion, the Sri Lanka Police joins the international law enforcement community in paying tribute to the bravery, commitment, and ultimate sacrifice of fallen police officers, while honouring the memory of those who gave their lives in service to the nation.
