Attempt to Defraud Money and Property by Impersonating a Senior Police Officer – Public Urged to Remain Vigilant

The Sri Lanka Police has received information regarding organized groups operating within the Colombo area, specially contacting Tourist hotels and other private institutions, while impersonating senior police officers. 

These individuals falsely claim to require food, funds, or other assistance for various official events. Investigations have been initiated in connection with these fraudulent activities.

The Police strongly advise all institutions and members of the public not to be deceived by such scams carried out by individuals or organized groups misusing the names and designations of senior officers.

If you receive any suspicious calls or possess information related to such incidents, please report them immediately to the nearest
