Severe rainfall caused by the Ditva cyclone, which affected the country during the final days of November 2025, resulted in significant flooding in several areas within the Kotadeniya Police Division, particularly those located near the Maha Oya.
Homes in the vicinity of the Kotadeniya Karunaratne Buddhist School were inundated and sustained extensive damage, leaving many underprivileged families in distress and still in need of assistance to restore their daily livelihoods.
Recognizing this situation, the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Fort Police, Chief Inspector Dileepa C. Perera, together with his officers, organized a charitable initiative. With voluntary financial contributions from the officers, they visited the Kotadeniya Karunaratne Buddhist School on 28.03.2026 and distributed essential items such as school uniforms, school bags, and other educational materials among the children.
This initiative received the full support of Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Mahesh Kumarasinghe, the Head of the Colombo Central Division, as well as the Officer-in-Charge of District 2 of the same division, Superintendent of Police Mr. Minura Senarath. Accordingly, nearly 50 sets of essential school supplies, including school bags, were distributed among the beneficiaries.
