Police Headquarters New Year Trade Fair Held Under the Patronage of the Inspector General of Police

The “New Year Trade Fair,” organized at the Police Headquarters premises in view of the forthcoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year, was successfully held today under the patronage of the Inspector General of Police. The event was jointly organized by the Police Family Welfare Association and the Police Seva Vanitha Unit. The Chief Guests were the Inspector General of Police, Attorney-at-Law Mr. Priyantha Weerasooriya, and the Chairperson of the Police Seva Vanitha Unit and the Police Family Welfare Association, Attorney-at-Law Mrs. Nilmini Neeta Samaratunga.

A distinctive feature of this year’s exhibition was the collaborative participation of skilled entrepreneurs from police families alongside members of the wider business community in managing the trade stalls. The fair, aimed at fostering entrepreneurial talent within police families and strengthening partnerships with the private sector, offered a wide array of high-quality textiles, elegant furniture, locally crafted decorative items, and a variety of food and beverages—all available under one roof at affordable prices.

Organized in the spirit of the New Year, promoting unity and goodwill, the exhibition marked yet another successful initiative towards enhancing the economic resilience of police families and supporting small-scale entrepreneurs.

A notable highlight of the event was the felicitation of children of police officers who demonstrated outstanding performance at the 2025 Advanced Level Examination. The Inspector General of Police presented special awards in recognition of their academic excellence, symbolizing a meaningful investment in the future progress of police families.

Senior DIG (Administration) Mr. Sanjeewa Dharmaratne, Senior DIG (Western Province) Mr. Sajeewa Medawatte, Senior DIG (Support Services) Mr. Rajitha Sri Daminda, along with several other distinguished officers, were also in attendance at the event.
