Special Awareness Program on Security and Protection of Public Property at the Pettah Central Bus Stand

A special awareness program aimed at educating the public on ensuring security within the premises of the Pettah Central Bus Stand and promoting the proper use and protection of public property was successfully conducted on 12.04.2026.

This initiative, jointly organized by the Sri Lanka Transport Board, the Sri Lanka Police, and the Sri Lanka Air Force, primarily focused on enhancing the safety of passengers visiting the bus stand during the festive season, while also preventing the misuse and damage of public assets.

As part of the program, informative leaflets were distributed among the public to raise awareness. The significance of safeguarding public property, along with the relevant legal provisions, was clearly explained. Passengers were also advised to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious individuals or unattended items.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Transport Board, Mr. Sajeewa Nandana Kanagaratne, and the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Colombo District, Mr. Nishantha de Zoysa. Several senior officials representing the security forces and the Transport Board were also present at the occasion.
