A warrant issued in connection with several grave crimes committed in the Southern Province has led to the return of a suspect to Sri Lanka from India.

Following extensive efforts to apprehend S.F. Raju, who had been identified as an organized crime suspect linked to multiple murders and serious offenses reported within police jurisdictions around the Elpitiya area, he was recently arrested in India by Indian security authorities.

On the night of 17.04.2026, a team of officers from the Sri Lankan Criminal Investigation Department escorted the suspect back to Sri Lanka by air. He is scheduled to be presented before the relevant court, where proceedings concerning these offenses are ongoing, under stringent security measures.

According to information uncovered during investigations, the suspect operating under the alias “Raju” was allegedly involved in a series of shootings using T-56 firearms in the Meetiyagoda, Hikkaduwa, and Imaduwa areas. Investigative teams handling the case have reported details concerning his involvement to the courts on multiple occasions.
