Police Preschool at Maradana Relocated to New Premises with Improved Facilities

The “Tiny Tots” Preschool and Day Care Centre, operated by the Police Family Welfare Association for the children of police officers, was ceremonially opened at newly allocated police quarters within the Maradana Police Precinct.

The ceremony took place on the morning of 22.04.2026 under the patronage of the Inspector General of Police, Attorney-at-Law Mr. Priyantha Weerasooriya, and in the presence of the Chairperson of the Police Family Welfare Association, Attorney-at-Law Mrs. N. Neeta Samaratunga.

The new premises have been thoughtfully designed with enhanced space and modern facilities, ensuring a safe and child-friendly environment that also enables effective supervision.

The development and refurbishment of the new facility were made possible through the generous financial contributions of Senior Attorney-at-Law Mr. Anoma Gunathilaka Wickramaratne and Mrs. Wasantha de Silva, former Chairpersons of the Police Family Welfare Association and the Police Seva Vanitha Unit.

The event was also attended by Deputy Secretary of the Police Family Welfare Association, Mrs. Sham Anwar; Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Colombo District, Mr. Nishantha de Zoysa; Senior Superintendent of Police in charge of the Colombo Central Division, Mr. M.M. Kumarasinghe; Officer-in-Charge of the Police Family Welfare Association and the Police Seva Vanitha Unit, Ms. Padmini Jayaweera; and several other distinguished invitees.
