Sri Lanka Police’s First International Research Conference to Receive Extensive Media Coverage

The Sri Lanka Police will host its inaugural International Research Conference, titled NPAIRC 2026 (National Police Academic and International Research Conference), organized by the National Police Academy in conjunction with the 160th National Police Day.

The conference is scheduled to take place on 31 August 2026 at the National Police Academy in Katana and on 1 September 2026 at a hotel in Colombo.

Invitations have already been extended to local and international public and private universities, higher education institutions, government and non-governmental organizations, as well as police officers from Sri Lanka and abroad. Participants will be invited to present research-based analyses and innovative solutions addressing emerging crime trends and contemporary global security challenges.

To encourage greater participation and to raise awareness among academics, researchers, and practitioners interested in this field, the National Police Academy, Katana, and the Police Media Division will collaborate to provide comprehensive media coverage and promotional outreach.

In this regard, a planning meeting was held at the Police Media Division on 11 May 2026 under the patronage of the Executive Director of the National Police Academy, Manjula Mahagirilla. The discussion was attended by Administrative Director Upali Atapattu, Police Media Spokesperson Frederick Wootler, Anuruddhi Edirisinghe, Anusha Edirisinghe, and officers from the Web and Social Media Division of the Police Media Division.

As agreed during the meeting, regular updates and information regarding the conference will be disseminated through the official social media platforms of the Sri Lanka Police in the coming weeks.
