Traffic arrangements for the 17th National War Heroes’ Commemoration Ceremony.

The 17th National War Heroes’ Day Commemoration Ceremony is scheduled to be held on the evening of 19.05.2026 under the patronage of the His Excellency the President at the War Heroes’ Memorial located near the Parliament Grounds.

The following traffic plan will be implemented during the period of the ceremony:

From 3:30 p.m. on 19.05.2026, traffic movement will be restricted for vehicles exiting Colombo via Polduwa Junction and for vehicles entering Colombo via Kiamham Junction. Traffic will be redirected through the following alternative routes where necessary.

Alternative Routes:

* Vehicles travelling out of Colombo via Parliament Road may proceed through Polduwa Junction, Battaramulla, Palanthuna, and Kiamham Junction.

* Vehicles entering Colombo from Kiamham Junction may travel via Palanthuna and Battaramulla.

* Vehicles travelling from Rajamalwatte along Bodhiraja Mawatha may access Battaramulla Road and continue along their respective routes.

**Parking Arrangements for Buses and Lorries:**

* From Japan Friendship Road Junction to Kimbulawala Junction.

* Along Japan Friendship Road, from the vicinity of the Electricity Board premises to Pelawatte Junction.
