The Financial and Commercial Crimes Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is conducting an investigation into a complaint concerning a private company, Rainbow Garments Technologies (Pvt) Ltd, which is alleged to have obtained money from individuals through deception, breach of trust, and misappropriation of funds by falsely promising overseas employment opportunities in Romania.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that more than Rs. 920 million was fraudulently obtained from approximately 750 individuals.

Accordingly, a report has been submitted to the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court, and an open warrant has been issued for a suspect who served as a director of the company and is allegedly connected to the fraud. The suspect is believed to have absconded, and police are seeking public assistance to locate and apprehend him.
