Suspect Arrested with 9 Kg of Narcotics and Explosive Materials

Acting on intelligence received, a team of officers from the Police Special Task Force (STF) Gonahena Camp conducted a raid in the Parangoda area of the Dompe Police Division on 13 July 2026.

During the operation, officers seized:

* 9 kg 128 g of crystal methamphetamine (“Ice”)

* Three anti-personnel landmines

* Three fuse components

* 20 rounds of live M16 rifle ammunition

* Five swords

* One electronic weighing scale

* One motorcycle

A 23-year-old suspect, a resident of Mandawala, was arrested during the raid.

The suspect, along with the seized items, has been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigation.
