2026 Inter-Police Division Boxing Tournament Commences

The opening ceremony of the 2026 Inter-Police Division Dowbiggin Challenge Cup Boxing Tournament was held on 23.07.2026 at the Kalutara Police College under the patronage of Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Training, Advanced Training, and the Police Special Bureau, Attorney-at-Law Sampath Kumara Liyanage.

The gathering was welcomed by Deputy Inspector General of Police Jagath Seram, who serves as the Chairman of the Police Boxing Association. Addressing the ceremony, the Senior DIG conveyed his best wishes to the boxers, officials, and members of the judging panel, encouraging them to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and fair competition throughout the tournament.

Among those in attendance were Senior Superintendent of Police D.R. Thalagala, Director of the Kalutara Police College; Superintendent of Police L. Chinthaka Perera, Director of the Police Sports Division; senior and junior police officers; and trainee officers undergoing basic training at the Kalutara Police College, who were present to witness both the opening ceremony and the tournament bouts.

The tournament will conclude with the final bouts and the trophy presentation ceremony on 25.07.2026, which is scheduled to be held under the patronage of Inspector General of Police, Attorney-at-Law Priyantha Weerasooriya.
