152nd Aadi Vel Festival “Ridee Riya” Perahera – Blessings Invoked for the IGP and Sri Lanka Police Officers

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Attorney-at-Law Mr. Priyantha Weerasooriya, received blessings during the 152nd annual Aadi Vel Festival “Ridee Riya” Perahera, which commenced from the Hettividiya Sri Kadireshan Kovil in Pettah and proceeded to the Sri Kadireshan Kovil in Bambalapitiya on the morning of 28 July 2026. The blessings were received near the Fort Police Station.

Senior Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mr. Sanjeewa Dharmaratne, DIG Colombo District Mr. Nishantha De Silva, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Mahesh Kumarasinghe, Superintendent of Police Mr. Minura Senarath, and a contingent of police officers also participated in the occasion.

The return procession is scheduled to take place on 31 July 2026. It will commence from the New Kadireshan Kovil in Bambalapitiya and proceed along Galle Road, passing the Bambalapitiya Kovil, Galle Face Green, Galle Face Centre Road, Chatham Street, York Street, Leyden Bastion Road, Main Street, Muhu Street, Kadireshan Street, Brassfounder Street, Andiwall Street, and Cayman Gate before concluding at the New Kadireshan Kovil in Pettah.
