118.pubsec.gov.lk Has Been Launched

The Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs has further strengthened its 118 Public Security Help Desk by officially launching the website 118.pubsec.gov.lk on 03 August 2026, enabling members of the public to submit written complaints, suggestions, and information online together with audio recordings and photographic evidence.

Previously, the public could contact the Ministry only by making a verbal complaint or providing information through the 118 emergency hotline. With the introduction of this new online platform, users can now access the 118 Public Security Help Desk via 118.pubsec.gov.lk and submit complaints or suggestions electronically. A key feature of the website is the ability to attach supporting audio recordings and photographs to complaints, allowing for more comprehensive reporting.

The Deputy Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Attorney-at-Law Sunil Watagala, officially inaugurated the 118 Public Security Service Room established at the Suhurupaya Building, Battaramulla, on the morning of 03 August 2026, while simultaneously launching the website for public use.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Minister stated that the new platform enables the public to directly communicate with the Ministry regarding information on organized drug trafficking, illegal firearms, organized criminal networks, and activities that threaten national security.

The website also provides citizens with the opportunity to communicate directly with the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs and the Deputy Minister. In addition, members of the public may lodge complaints against the Sri Lanka Police, other public security-related institutions, or individual public officials, and conveniently monitor the progress and status of action taken in response to their complaints.

Beyond the Sri Lanka Police, the website also facilitates the submission of complaints relating to institutions operating under the purview of the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, including the Department of Immigration and Emigration, the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board, the Office of the Commissioner General of Rehabilitation, and the Department of Civil Defence.

The Deputy Minister further urged the public to make responsible use of this service to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and accountability of public institutions, contribute towards strengthening national and public security, and assist authorities in combating organized crime and other unlawful activities. He also requested the public not to misuse the facility by submitting false, misleading, or malicious information.
