Mr. Priyantha Weerasooriya (Attorney-at-Law), Acting Inspector General of Police, having visited Kalkuda in Batticaloa district, which is a popular tourist destination, ceremoniously declared open the new Police Station on 05-10-2024 at the auspicious time. This has been established at the cost of 20 million rupees and equipped with the modern infrastructure facilities for the well-being of the police officers and residents of the area.
Kalkuda Police Station that has extended an excellent service to tourists and the residents of the area, amidst various difficulties and challenges and insufficient space, will hereafter be able to provide a more productive police service with a new impetus.
In addition to the Inspector General of Police, Senior Police Officers including Mr. Ajith Rohana – Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Eastern Province, Mr. Jagath Wishantha – Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Batticaloa Range, Mr. Dhammika Weerasekara – Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Trincomalee Range, Mr. Damayantha Wijaya Sri- Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Ampara Range, Mr. Amal Edirimanna – Senior Superintendent of Police in charge of Batticaloa Division and Senior Officers of Tri Forces have also graced the occasion.
After the ceremony, the Inspector General of Police, engaged in a discussion with the Senior Police Officers of Batticaloa Range and Police Officers in charge of Stations, gave necessary instructions and orders for the ongoing security measures taken to maintain peace in the Batticaloa Police Division.
