The Children and Women Bureau at Police Station Nanu Oya declared open with a new look

The Bureau for the Prevention of Abuse of Children and Women, Nanu Oya has been formally established in a separate section within the Police Station, Nanu Oya. The Bureau was declared open by Mr. P. N. Ekanayaka, Assistant Superintendent of Police of Nuwara Eliya Division, on 20.11.2024, followed by a brief ceremony.
The objective of setting up the Bureau in a new place is to create a suitable environment for the children and women in the area to lodge complaints regarding the crimes they experience or problems they encounter, whilst preserving their privacy.
Actions are being taken to establish Children and Women Bureaus, to extend a service in such a formal and friendly manner, in every police station as per the instructions and orders of the acting Inspector General of Police, (Attorney at Law), Mr. Priyantha Weerasooriya, and that will provide opportunity for children as well as women to get justice served more conveniently.
