S.K. Liu Scholarship
During a visit of a Hong Kong based entrepreneur Mr. S.K. Liu, founder of ae “Donor Agency” along with his cousin IPA Member David Tak Shing of IPA Hong Kong to Sri Lanka during the IPA Friendship Tour organized by the IPA Sri Lanka in 2014, he noticed the need of financial support to children in Sri Lanka who have the potential but lacking of resources for their education. In order to assist the development of the younger generation in Sri Lanka, he agreed to provide certain financial support to the children’s education, in particular, for the children of the Sri Lanka Police who will be or already attending University for their education as he believed that a strong and well educated generation could better assist the future development of Sri Lanka.
The “Donor” organization is a private charitable outfit, registered in the HKSAR and one of its main donation criteria is to assist the education of the students who have academic potential but are lacking of financial support.
As the initial step Donor Mr. S.K. Liu offered a total of 20 Scholarships, each of Rs. 5000 per month, for a period of three academic years, for University Students of Children of Police Officers commencing from the year 2015.
On completion of the first programme, as the 2nd step, the Donor increased the donation to 35 Scholarships, each of Rs. 5000 per month, for a period of two academic years, for University Students of Children of Police Officers from the year 2018. IPA Sri Lanka held the Awarding Ceremony of this event, fulfilling the second leg of the programme, on 30/01/2018 with the attendance of President IPA Sri Lanka Section Mr. Pujith Jayasundara, Inspector General of Police and NEC Members of the Section.
