Accidents near Insecure Railway Crossings brought down through the Mediation of Police PDF Print E-mail

Many railroad accidents that occurred near the insecure railway crossings have been reported for the past couple of years. With the intention of minimizing such accidents, the police launched a full-scale course of programmes starting from 02.07.2013. Accordingly, new secure railway gates were constructed at insecure railway crossings and Officers of the Civil Security Committee had been appointed to for duties in such places.

Only one accident near railway crossings has been reported since 2014 up to 20.7.2014. The statistics are as follows.

Navy Commander visits IGP PDF Print E-mail

The Navy Commander, Vice Admiral Mr. Jayantha Perera paid a visit to the Police Headquarters to meet the Inspector General of Police, Mr. N. K. Illangakoon on 17.07.2014. The Navy Commander was given a warm welcome at Police Headquarters. This was the first official meeting of Vice Admiral Mr. Jayantha Perera with the Inspector General of Police after assuming duties as the 19th Navy Commander.

The annual Ifthar ceremony held during Ramazan season, which is organized for male and female Islamic Police Officers by the Association of Buddhist and Religious Affairs of Police, was held grandly this year as well under the leadership of Secretary to the Ministry of law and order Rtd. The religious ceremony for enshrining sacred offerings in the newly erected stupa at Saamabodhi Vihara before the Arugambay STF Camp was held at the auspicious time, 0505 hrs on 12.07.2014 under the leadership of the Acting Commandant of the STF – Senior Superintendant of Police Mr. Ranjith Perera.
