As per the guidance of Ven. Elle Gunawansa Thero, a program of pasting stickers which illustrate the Buddhist Flag and Dhamma Message on 500 three-wheelers was held at 8.00 a.m. on 23rd May, 2013 before the Dharmayathanaya at 381, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 07 with the intention of celebrating the upcoming Vesak festival.

A counterfeit notes printing hideout at Yatiyanthota raided

A building used as a hideout for printing counterfeit notes at Yatiyantota was raided on the night of 17th May, 2013. A person who was running the place was apprehended along with 03 computers, 02 printers and ink used for printing notes, a toy pistol, an army uniform, a number of pornographic CDs, 07 Rs. 1000 notes and 02 Rs. 500 notes.

PS 57666 Liyanarachchi rescues the life of the driver from drowning in Kanthale tank PDF Print E-mail

While a group of people having a bath in the Kanthale tank on their way to a funeral on 18th May, 2013, the driver of the bus in which they were travelling had nearly drowned. Having heard the screaming of the people who were at the scene, the Chief Training Officer of the Police Life saving Unit Kanthale police Station PS 57666 Liyanarachchi had rescued the driver who was about to drown and had made arrangements to admit him to the hospital.The driver who was rescued is a person named Dorin Ananda, a resident of the Thulhiriya area. 

 
STF seize ‘WallaPatta’ worth Rs 200 million PDF Print E-mail

Police Special Task Force (STF) personnel recovered 13,489 kilograms of Wallapatta herb valued at around Rs 20,00,00,000.00 million to be smuggled out of the country and arrested 6 suspects including 2 Indian nationals during a raid in Kolonnawa, Samaranayaka Mawtha.The arrests were made on 20.05.2013 while the suspects have been handed over to Wellampitiya Police for onward action.It which fetches a high price in other countries as it is used in the production of perfumes.

 
A gang of 04 in Connection with many burglaries and Gold Chain Snatchings, Apprehended PDF Print E-mail

Diuvulapitiya Police has apprehended 04 residents of Ja-Ela and Ekala areas in connection with committing many crimes including 02 burglaries and many gold chain-snatchings while riding high-speed motorbikes in Negombo, Diuvulapitiya and Gampaha areas.The value of the gold jewellery and 53 other items is nearly 20 lakhs and it has been revealed that one of the 03 motor bicycles had been stolen from Veyangoda.
