It has been revealed that these suspects had carried out this theft from a long period. Those suspects were from Sigiriya and Anuradhapura areas.

A 28 year old suspect has been arrested by the OIC Crime Investigation Unit of Maradana Police, IP Gamini Hewawitharana with other officials, along with Batteries, Mobile Phones and other valuables stolen from the stationary Lorries at Maradana, Maligawatta and Slave Island during nights.

24 Nos. Batteries, 16 Nos. Mobile Phones and 02 Nos. Gas Cylinders stolen from those Lorries and sold by the suspect had been found.

While carrying out investigation by Giriulla Police with regard to stealing 03 Oxen belonged to a disable person at Ranawaka – Wellawa, it has been revealed that the suspect had contacts with luxury van which had been used to transport cattle.

A 50 year old suspect along with 8 Kgs of Cannabis ready to be sold has been arrested by OIC Vice Squad of Mirihana Police SI Mr.Asanka Liyandeniya and other officers and remanded after producing before courts.

On an information received by the police, this suspect who is residing at Wellampitiya has been arrested while taking 1 Kg of Cannabis is to be sold. While doing further investigations the rest 7 Kgs of cannabis has been found, which was hidden in his house.

It has been revealed that this stock of cannabis had been transported under the pretext of transporting fruits by the suspect from Embilipitiya and Thanamalwila.
