The new Police building (worth of 95 Million) at kiriella was declared open on 10 th May 2013 by the Hon. Minister of Power and Energy  Mrs. Pawithra Wanniarachchi with the participation of  Hon. Minister of National Languages and Social Integration Mr.Wasudewa Nanayakkara, Hon Minister of Public Administration Mr. Jhon Senevirathna the Inspector General of Police Mr. N.K. Illangakoon, Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Sabaragamuwa Mr. Lalith Jayasinghe, Deputy Inspector General Of Police Sabaragamuwa Mr. Mahesh Perera, Senior Superintendent of Police Rathnapura Division  Mr. Prishantha Jayakody and many other  invitees.

Opening of the Renovated Barrack at Kumbuka

The Barrack at VIP Training centre renovated at the cost of Rs. 5 Million funded by the Welfare society of Precedential Security Division, was declared opened by the Inspector General of Police on 09 th May, 2013.The Barrack was named as ‘Araliya’. In addition the Inspector General of Police gave a way the certificates for the winners who were attached to Precedential Security Division of the 78 th Annual Police Athletic Meet 2013. 

 
Making people aware of the extortions that take place by making death-threats and hush-money demands under the guise of Police Officers PDF Print E-mail

The police have received complaints with regard to many incidents where people had been extorted after threatening over the phone under the guise of police officers stating that those callers have access to information regarding such people having been involved in the acts of LTTE and that they will be apprehended and prosecuted unless they deposit a specified amount of money to a given account number.

On 06th May 2013, one suspect was arrested with 74.7 g of Heroin in their possession (Valued Rs.5, 96,853.00) by a team of STF Kelaniya Camp at near to the Sedawatta petrol shed in Grandpass Police area. PNB (Police Narcotic Bureau) are conducting further inquires.
