On 30th March 2013,  at Thihariya, opposite the Helenlonil Garment in Nittambuwa Police area, a suspect was arrested with 61.56g of Heroin in his possession(Valued Rs.4,91,864.40) by a team of STF Personnel, Headquarters Camp.

The 431st Police Station at Panama in Potuvil of Ampara Police Division declared open on 29.03.2013 morning by Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Administration, Mr.Gamini Nawaratna with the participation of Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police in-charge of Eastern Province Mr. Pujith Jayasundara, Deputy Inspector General of Police Logistics, Mr.Nandana Munasinghe and Deputy Inspector General of Police Crimes, Mr.Ravi Wijegunawardana.

International Vocational Award in Community Policing (IVA in CP) ceremony was held at the Conference Hall, Police Headquarters, Colombo on 27 March 2013 with the participation of His Excellency, John Rankin /British High Commissioner in Sri Lanka as the Chief Guest.

H.E the President Mahinda Rajapaksa ceremonially declared the opening of the 7th Deyata Kirula National Development Exhibition at Ampara Hardy Higher Technology Institute on Saturday, 23 March 2013.

In order to reduce accidents in Ampara and Batticoloa Divisions, The Traffic Police Head Quarters conducted accident prevention awareness programs as follows. Ampara on 26th February 2013, Iginiyagala on 27th February 2013, Batticoloa on 28th February 2013 and Eraure on 13th February 2013.

The 149th Police Day will be commemorated on March 21 in a fitting manner in memory of Police heroes who have sacrificed their lives in defence of the country and protection of law and order.

The origin of annual Police Day commemoration dates back to March 21, 1864, when Constable Sabhan died of gunshot injuries received during a Police raid to apprehend the notorious bandit Saradiel. Sixty four Policemen had sacrificed their lives for the cause of providing security to their countrymen between 1964 and 1971.
